University of Saskatchewan Researchers Awarded $1.66M by the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) for Northern, Community and Cultural Projects. Among the 16 projects being funded, is a three-year project to better understand the political and economic roles that growing Aboriginal communities play in Canada's North. Led by Bonita Beatty, assistant professor of Native Studies, the research team is made up of political scientists Greg Poelzer and Loleen Berdahl, and Evelyn Peters, Canada Research Chair in Identity and Diversity: the Aboriginal Experience.
