| Description: | This talk focuses on the potential for public opinion to serve as a useful tool for public policymaking. Past work demonstrates that opinion can and does guide policy, at least in some policy domains. This talk will consider the rationality of public opinion, and its strengths and weaknesses where public policy is concerned. It will consider the role of political institutions in moderating both public responsiveness and policy representation. It will also discuss the likely implications of the current policy environment, in which the federal government invests less and less in monitoring public attitudes. | |
| Please Note: | This lecture will take place in Saskatoon and will be video-conferenced to a Regina audience. Please be advised that the JSGS Window Room is located on the second floor of the Gallery Building. Individuals with mobility difficulties should contact us at | |
