Description:Faculty, staff, and students are invited to a forum about liberal arts education featuring a presentation by Professor Ken Coates entitled “The Future of the Liberal Arts: The Global Prospects for the Humanities and Social Sciences.”

The forum will take place on Thursday, January 17, 2013 at 4 p.m. in Room 119 of the Research and Innovation Centre (RIC). A brief reception will follow in the RIC atrium.

Coates is a professor and Canada Research Chair in Regional Innovation at the Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy. His research focuses on Aboriginal rights, science and technology policy, and northern development.

The desire for open dialogue about the University of Regina’s commitment to liberal arts stemmed from discussion at an Academic Program Review forum held this fall. Everyone is encouraged to participate.
