Description:In her presentation, Sharon Lee Smith will draw from her experience as a Senior Official with both levels of government to provide insight into the Federal and Provincial Public Service.
Sharon Lee Smith was appointed Assistant Deputy Minister of Health effective July 15, 2013. Sharon Lee is a graduate of Carleton University with a Masters of Public Administration. Her undergraduate degree is in Journalism from Carleton University. Sharon Lee is responsible for three key areas within the Ministry of Health: Mental Health and Addictions Action Plan, Community Care and Population Health. Prior to joining the Ministry of Health, Sharon Lee served as the Assistant Deputy Minister for the Saskatchewan Region of Western Economic Diversification Canada from 2008. She also served as Director General at Environment Canada, and was responsible for post Kyoto negotiations on climate change, and other international environmental files. During her career with the Public Service, Sharon Lee also worked for the Privy Council Office in the area of environmental and fisheries issues and at Health Canada. At Health Canada, Sharon Lee served as Regional Director for northern health and as Executive Director, Aboriginal Health Secretariat – First Nations and Inuit Health Branch. She has also held positions with the Government of Ontario.
