Professor and Canada Research Chair in Public Policy, Johnson-Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy, and Associate Member, Department of Sociology, University of Saskatchewan

Daniel Béland

When Canada Research Chair Daniel Béland lectures, all eyes are upon him. Daniel paces the room, makes eye contact with every student, and declares his points in a style best-described as riveting. In a class with Daniel, you stay awake. And you can hear him on the radio regularly (both in English and in French), talking about politics but also...music. Daniel may be a political sociologist, but in his personal life, he also majored in classical music. He has a great sense of humour, which presents itself with perfect timing to lighten the mood of any meeting. Daniel is an expert in fiscal and social programs, such as pensions and equalization.
