Indigenous Peoples’ Health Research Centre

Established in 2002, the Indigenous Peoples’ Health Research Centre (IPHRC) was created as a partnership between the First Nations University of Canada, the University of Regina and the University of Saskatchewan. Building on an emerging relationship and shared commitment to Indigenous engagement, the IPHRC joined the Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy in 2016.

The Centre's mandate is to develop capacity for community-based Indigenous health research in Saskatchewan and to create networks of Indigenous health researchers regionally, nationally, and internationally. It strives to create an ethical environment in research that supports Indigenous community-based definitions and solutions to health while acknowledging Indigenous models/methods of health and informing government policies and practices.
