John Carriere is from Cumberland House SK, where he grew up around hunting, fishing and trapping. His parents are members of the Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation and the Nisichawayasihk Cree Nation. He has a Bachelor of Arts in Indigenous Studies from the University of Saskatchewan through NORPAC. He volunteered and worked in sports, recreation and culture roles with different organizations while living in La Ronge Sk. He also has experience working within the Government of Saskatchewan with roles in the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Environment. Bringing a patient perspective to the team, John is also a Factor IX Hemophiliac and over the years has volunteered and been involved with Hemophilia Saskatchewan and the Canadian Hemophilia Society. By managing the disorder, he is able to enjoy playing basketball, weight training and running.
