Get Connected! JSGS Orientation

The Johnson Shoyama Graduate School of Public Policy is pleased to welcome all new students to its annual orientation, Get Connected! 2019 Orientation.

We are excited for you to start with the Johnson Shoyama School of Public Policy! As an introduction to both the school and your program, we offer the annual Get Connected! Orientation. The orientation is mandatory attendance for PhD, MPP, and MPA students. Attendance is optional for Master Certificate students.

Get Connected! is an opportunity to meet your peers, faculty, and staff. You will also get to hear about exciting opportunities the school has on offer.

This year Orientation will take place at the school's University of Saskatchewan campus on Monday, September 9 from 8:30 am - 5:30 pm. 

Get Connected! Itinerary

  • 6:00 am - U of R students, faculty and staff board the bus in Regina at College Building. Please arrive at least 10 minutes prior to boarding. Bus departs at 6:00 am.
  • 8:30 am - Doors to the Diefenbaker Building open, students can begin to arrive for registration.
  • 8:45 am - Orientation events begin 
  • 10:15 am - Regina and Saskatoon Students' Associations host icebreaker activities
  • 11:15 am - JSGS Engagement Fair. NOTE: Lunch will be served during the Engagement Fair.
  • 1:00 pm - Presentation: Policy Makers' Engagement with Indigenous Communities and Culture
  • 2:25 pm - Mock Case Competition between JSGS Faculty and Executives-in-Residence
  • 3:30 pm - Presentation: Online Security
  • 4:15 pm - Supper and outdoor games
  • 5:30 pm - U of R students, faculty, and staff board the bus. Bus departs for Regina.
