University of Saskatchewan

The Centre for the Study of Co-operatives invites all students, faculty and researchers interested in the study of co-operatives, governance and the social economy to join us in a discussion.

LED BY: Gebreyesus Abegaz Yimer, JSGS Doctoral Candidate

In the 1960s, Ethiopia modernized its laws by borrowing massively from western legal traditions. However, customary laws and norms still continue to play a significant role. In this lunch-and-learn noon-hour talk, doctoral candidate Gebreyesus Abegaz Yimer will explore how the official and unofficial laws interact in the regulation of credit markets in Ethiopia.
