Northern and Indigenous communities face well documented challenges to accessing healthcare prompting the urgency to adopt innovative solutions to overcome barriers of geographic distance, physician shortages, limited resources, and high cost of delivery. Telehealth promises to augment services to address these barriers, however notable utilization and structural constraints remain. This discussion captures a snapshot of perspectives from four Northern Saskatchewan communities, drawing attention to experiences in relation to the social and technical factors shaping telehealth use. This talk highlights the strengths and barriers for telehealth with a focus on the importance of community collaborations as crucial to better decision-making and pathways forward.
