CSIP Research Forum ~ Accelerate the PACE of local energy innovation in Saskatchewan

The Centre for the Study of Science and Innovation Policy (CSIP) invites all students, faculty and researchers interested in the study of science, technology and innovation policy to participate in a bi-weekly research forum.

Who wants to pay less on their energy bills, stay more comfortable during cold winters, and lower their carbon footprint? How can public policy play a role at facilitating local energy innovation?

This talk will focus on an innovative policy approach used to encourage residential and commercial renewable energy and energy efficiency improvements. Property Assessment Clean Energy (PACE) financing is an approach that has been successful in municipalities across the United States. The potential challenges and opportunities for PACE financing in Saskatchewan will be discussed.

About Martin Boucher
Martin Boucher is a Faculty Lecturer and academic lead for the JSGS Master of Public Administration (online MPA) and plays a key role in the Governance and Entrepreneurship in Northern and Indigenous Areas (GENI) program.  He is currently completing his PhD in Environment and Sustainability (SENS) at the University of Saskatchewan, where his research focuses on socio-technical pathways to clean energy in Canada, the United States, and Sweden. Since joining USask in 2014, he has been the recipient of several scholarships and fellowships, including the SENS' Nexen Energy Graduate Scholarship and a Social Science and Humanities Research Council of Canada grant. Boucher has an MA in Integrated Studies with a concentration in global change from Athabasca University and a BSc (honours) in Natural Science from the University of Waterloo.
