About

Dr. Stephanie Ortynsky is a Postdoctoral Fellow at JSGS, University of Regina and a Research Associate supported through MITACS funding with the Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association (SUMA). Her academic supervisor is Dr. Jim Farney and SUMA supervisor is Dr. Jean-Marc Nadeau.

At SUMA, Dr. Ortynsky is leading a research initiative that integrates both qualitative and quantitative methodologies to explore municipal financial health indicators and governance capacity across Saskatchewan’s urban communities.

Her postdoctoral work builds on her interdisciplinary background in public finance, civic leadership, and policy evaluation, offering evidence-based insights to support resilient local governments. She is also an elected City Councillor in her hometown of Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
