Is Misinformation Killing Us?
Featuring Timothy Caulfield, Professor of Health Law and Science Policy | Bestselling Author
The spread of lies, polarizing spin, and twisted science seems to intensify with each passing week contributing to a growing “infodemic”. This is particularly so in the area of health, and it is doing tangible harm – to public health, trust, mental health, personal relationships, policy development, and democratic institutions. How did we get here, why do people believe misinformation, and what can we do about it in a rapidly evolving information environment?
In this provocative presentation, Professor Caulfield will explore what the most recent evidence tells us about the nature and source of the current infodemic. He will also provide science-informed policy recommendations for how best to engage and cut through the noise.
